What? When? Where?

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008 - 12:00 PM @ the Capitol Building, Raleigh, NC

The North Carolina Marijuana March will begin at 12 noon on Saturday, May 3rd, 2008. You're more than welcome to show up early! The "headquarters" will be outside the NC Capitol Building, in Capitol Square, at 1 Edenton St. in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina, just blocks outside NCSU campus-(if coming from Hillsborough St., look to the right hand side of the Capitol Bldg). The march itself will take place throughout downtown Raleigh, but will begin and end at the Capitol Building. Hope to see you there!

Never attended the rally? Want to attend?

Q: How many people will be at the rally?

A: In 2007, there was an estimated 250-300 people present for most of the rally. The more, the better! This year we hope to triple that, so PLEASE bring friends and family!

Q: What kind of people show up?

A: Anyone, of any age, race or religion is welcome to the rally. In one way or another, we are ALL negatively affected by Cannabis prohibition, so bring everyone that will attend. There will be children, teens, and adults of all races present, marijuana users and non-users.

Q: Will there be law enforcement present? Will I get arrested?

A: The Raleigh Police Department provides protection and supervises the streets only during the march, but will not interfere whatsoever as long as everything's organized. Remember, the First Amendment protects every US citizen's freedom of speech, so excercise that right! You WILL NOT be searched or hassled by police for no reason, as there will be plenty of people and media present. In the past, there have NOT been uniformed officers walking amongst the crowd, but thats not to say "undercover" officers aren't present.

Q: Will people be smoking marijuana at the rally? Can I smoke marijuana there?

A: As we all know, Cannabis use and possession is illegal under state and federal law, so the possibility of being arrested scares most people away from public consumption. However, if you're aware of the risks and feel comfortable inhaling in public, that's your choice! This event is all about legalizing and naturalizing responsible Cannabis use, just be don't be stupid. For your own safety, do NOT try to sell or buy herb.

Q: What do I bring?

A: People! Bring anyone who supports or is interested in ending cannabis prohibition. Other than that, make signs, banners, posters, etc. Wear anything and everything you can find related to the cannabis culture! Play instruments, be loud-(but civil!) have fun with it!
